IKAS

Guidance on data from

IKAS/DDKM on file with

ISQua

IKAS, the Danish Institute for Quality and Accreditation in Healthcare, operated the accreditation programme DDKM, the Danish Healthcare Quality Programme, from 2005 to 2022. IKAS discontinued operations on the 30th June 2022 and has, consequently, been dissolved.

IKAS desired that the data on accreditation outcomes accumulated during the operation of the Danish Healthcare Quality Programme (DDKM) be preserved and available for research purposes.

IKAS has, therefore, handed over a data set including outcomes of all accreditations performed by IKAS to ISQua. The intention is that data should be available to researchers.

The data includes:

Geographical location of the organisation.

Date of the accreditation survey and, if relevant, a follow-up survey.

Accreditation status awarded after each survey.

Rating of each criterion, including the rationale (in Danish) if the criterion is not fully met.

Data is available on:

*Public Hospitals, 2nd Cycle 2013-2015

*Private Hospitals, 2nd Cycle 2013-2016 (based on same standards as Public Hospitals, 2nd Cycle)

*Private Hospitals, 3rd Cycle 2016-2019 (based on standards for Private Hospitals, 1st edition)

Private Hospitals, 4th Cycle 2020-2022 (based on standards for Private Hospitals, 2nd edition)

General Practice 2015-2019

*Specialist Physicians, 1st Cycle 2015-2019

Specialist Physicians, 2nd Cycle 2019-2021

Chiropractors 2018-2019

Physiotherapists 2019-2022

Podiatrists 2018-2021

Practicing Psychologists 2020-2022

Data from the 1st accreditation cycles of public and private hospitals is not available. The data is stored, and will be shared, as Excel spreadsheets.

Details about the accreditation process can be found in the Introduction section to the standards used. All standards are available in Danish; standards marked * are also available in English.

A more detailed description of the principles used to rate the individual measurable elements and to decide on the award of accreditation status is available in some of the Introductions and in some separate documents.

How to apply:

Researchers can apply for access to data by completing the application form and agreeing to comply with the conditions of use of the data.

Decisions on permitting access to data will be made by the Steering Committee for Accreditation Data from IKAS. The members of the Steering Committee are appointed by ISQua and the Danish Clinical Quality Program – National Clinical Registries (RKKP).

More information on the data set can be requested by emailing info@isqua.org.
