We are thrilled to announce that Paul Bowie has joined ISQua as our new Education Editor! With an unparalleled depth of expertise in healthcare quality and safety, Paul brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and innovation to our educational initiatives.

 

Paul is a renowned Patient Safety Scientist, Medical Educator, and Chartered Ergonomist and Human Factors specialist. Over the past 30 years, he has excelled in diverse roles, including leadership and advisory positions in healthcare, medical defence, military medicine, and academia.

 

Paul earned his doctorate in significant event analysis in healthcare from the University of Glasgow in 2004 and has since authored over 200 publications in international peer-reviewed journals. His co-edited book on safety and improvement is a cornerstone in the field, highlighting his dedication to advancing healthcare practices worldwide.

 

In his current roles, Paul is Professor of Healthcare Human Factors at Staffordshire University and contributes to safety research and education for the NHS in Scotland and the Health Services Safety Investigation Body in England. He also holds honorary positions at the University of Glasgow and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Royal College of General Practitioners.

 

As Education Editor, Paul will lead the development of cutting-edge resources to inspire healthcare professionals globally, fostering excellence in quality improvement and patient safety. His profound insights and collaborative approach promise to elevate ISQua’s educational offerings to new heights.
