Check out Mapping Healthcare, a radio show and podcast produced and hosted by University of California Davis pediatrician and ISQua board member, Dr. Ulfat Shaikh. The podcast covers healthcare improvement efforts around the world and new episodes are released every two weeks.

Dr. Shaikh has been involved with youth media initiatives at Davis Media Access, a non-profit community media center in her hometown of Davis, California, for over a decade, advising a youth digital media club and then mentoring a youth-led community radio show. She served on the board of Davis Media Access to help advise its youth programs and after her board term came to a close, starting her own radio show there seemed like a great way of staying involved in media initiatives.
“In my work nationally and internationally as a pediatrician, educator, and researcher, I see the power of mass media in connecting people and shaping perspectives and attitudes about healthcare,” Shaikh said. "Radio and podcasts have been part of my own daily commute for decades and it’s a surreal feeling to now be on the other side."
Past episodes of Mapping Healthcare have covered a range of topics such as patient safety, patient-centered care, informatics, and technology in healthcare. Several episodes featured ISQua members and leaders. In episode 11 ISQua CEO Carsten Engel discussed Denmark's national patient safety incident reporting systems, one of the oldest such databases in the world. In episode 4, ISQua president Ezequiel García-Elorrio shared his experience with understanding patient experience in Argentina and the role of culture and context in quality measurement . Episode 9 spotlighted ISQua board honorary advisor Anna Edwards' journey as a person with a chronic condition in the United Kingdom and her efforts to ensure that health systems hear the voice of the patient. In episode 3 David Bates, past president of ISQua, highlighted tasks that artificial intelligence can help clinicians with and how this is changing the way health care is delivered in the United States.
