Kazis, ScD, the recipient of the prestigious 2025 Health Assessment Lab/Medical Outcomes Trust John Ware and Alvin Tarlov Career Achievement Prize in Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs). This distinguished honour recognizes Dr. Kazis’s significant contributions to improve patient-centred care.
Dr. Kazis will be formally honoured at ISQua’s 41st International Conference, taking place October 12–15, 2025, in São Paulo, Brazil.

About Lewis Kazis

Professor Lewis Kazis has devoted more than three decades to the advancement of patient reported outcomes significantly shaping how health related quality of life is measured and applied to chronic and special traumatic disease populations. Dr. Kazis has pioneered the development, application and use of patient centered outcomes to assess quality of care. This includes the Veterans VR-12 and VR-36 health outcome surveys adopted by the Veterans Administration and Medicare Advantage programs.
Dr. Kazis led the development of the Life Impact Burn Recovery Evaluation (LIBRE) Profile a computer adaptive tool assessing social reintegration of traumatic burn survivors and more recently assessments for those with traumatic brain injuries. The LIBRE profile is being disseminated nationally and internationally with validated translations and mobile Apps. Dr. Kazis, a prolific scholar, has authored more than 300 publications, led international collaborations, and brought patient centered outcomes into clinical use with important policy applications.
