INTEGRATING INDICATORS INTO PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

There are several challenges in integrating indicators into performance management which can only be met by addressing the underlying issues from methodological as well as a managerial and/or policy perspectives.
Methodologically, there are statistical boundaries to the construction and use of (compound) indicators for various management and policy goals. Managerially, various strategic objectives measured through indicators have to be reconciled in clear information-based decisions. And from a policy point of view, the various interests of different parties all using indicators need to be aligned. This is exactly what we want to address during the ISQua Indicators/Measures Summit in Boston on Sunday 30 September and the debate will continue during the sessions that are part of the indicator stream during the main conference.
